I heard a disturbing tale about the meteoric rise of a consultant. Her assignments took them worldwide and she met some of the most prestigious executives in his work. Her life sounded glamorous and fulfilling, a life worthy of envy. She was found dead in her hotel room recently on one of her business trips from a stress related heart attack.
She has left behind a young family and partner.
Was all the effort worth it?
She unfortunately drank a little too much and ate too much fine foods while travelling. Although she was an athlete in college, this fast and unhealthy lifestyle took its toll.
Could life have been different if they took a little more even pace with life? Do we have to sprint to reach the brass ring of success, oft defined by others, or should this goal be treated more like a marathon, where we take just a little more time?
As summer turns to fall, reflect on your efforts and the most meaningful interactions, especially as in life, time is what we have of the highest value.
What counts in your life?
