As the leader of your enterprise, what is your focus? Are you single mindedly working on achieving the long term strategy of your enterprise? During this journey, do you occasionally pause to:

– measure the enterprise’s progress to date on the strategy
– consider how you define success
– course correct the strategy as needed
– enjoy the journey??

It is this last point often overlooked. We can be so wrapped in the end rather than celebrating the small wins. Wars are won, one battle at a time.

Make sure you and your team have a chance to enjoy the moment. I enjoy the company of a very successful business person who lives this maxim. I admire his focus on the ensuring his team does celebrate the wins (small and large), from team planning meetings in Hawaii to regular opportunities to enjoy a fine meal and a bottle of wine.

Make sure you do hit the pause button occasionally. Goals are essential and so are the small wins.

Celebrate them.
