I am taking off today from comments and suggestions on business succession.

Let’s take a moment and think of others, those who have lost someone, something or may not even know the whereabouts of their loved ones in Japan after the devastating earthquake.  I was really touched today. My daughter had discussed this disaster with her classmates today and she came home, deeply touched and saddened.  She felt helpless, 1/2 way around the world and wanted to do more than hope for the best and pray for all of the victims of this natural disaster.

It is worrisome, how close this disaster can be to home for two reasons; we have in-laws who live in Sendai province who thankfully are all alive and well.  Second, the devastating effect of this disaster have not yet been determined nor measured.  This story is yet to unfold.  I takes about 30 minutes of destructive forces to change 100’s of years of development.  We live in an area close to a fault zone and this has shown how woefully unprepared we are should this happen to my family.

We will take action as a result.

This situation certainly shows the power of mother nature and we hope over the coming weeks, the indomitable human spirit will overcome this terrible event, with the international community coming together, putting all differences aside, with a common purpose of being human and part of humanity, neighbours helping neighbours.

Thank you.
