A pillar and necessary part of the succession planning process.  The plan can best be developed with input from your interested parties.  A cliche, well trodden, “A man/woman is not an island unto himself/herself.”

You may be entering territory that is uncomfortable for you because you had done much of the operating and growing your business all by yourself.  Having run your business, developed all of its various successful facets, seeking outside help is not normal.  Sometimes the best person may not be one of the stakeholders that would be integral to your succession plan.  You may need a facilitator.  There are many coaches, advisors and counsellors who may serve in this position.

Ask around…others have gone through these issues before you and can help you.
